Wicked little museum and cultural center. The upstairs part is a contemporary art gallery and cultural exhibit, and the downstairs part is a really cool children's museum. There's lots of hiking trails on the property, and cultural events like dances and storytelling throughout the tourist season. Definitely worth a stop!
Staff was very helpful, informative. And had very interesting displays. Gift shop was nice
This place is a hidden treasure. The admission fee was quite reasonable (and they gave us a AAA discount when we asked). We browsed the "adult" exhibits for a bit, which are interesting and feature both art and artifacts. My children, however (ages between 9-2), were dying to see the children's exhibits in the basement. Our guide was awesome at finding age - appropriate activities that were engaging for the kids. I also appreciated that there was a children's exhibit related to the special exhibit upstairs. Our only regret was that we had to leave before we were ready to meet the rest of our party. We will be back!
The design of the museum building is based on a traditional long house and incorporates a modern feel. The museum while small, had a very thoughtful collection both modern and historical, a great kids , and an amazing social dance performance where the viewers we're encouraged to join in.
