Our family was taking a long day trip and happened to find Howe Caverns along our drive. It was a very awesome place to visit. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The experience was quite unique. Our 3 year old loved it too. We are already planning another trip up, maybe even to stay the night in their hotel.
A staple for anyone visiting the area, Howe Caverns is a historic, fun place to go! They have all kinds of outdoor activities, obstacle courses, H2O ball ride, gem stone mining, and a couple of great gift shops and great food, candy and homemade fudge. And of course there is the cavern tours. They also have a motel there that is cute. The only thing is it's a little pricey, but besides that it is awesome!
Amazing Caverns! The story behind it is interesting too which you listen to as you wait to go down into the caves. Very cool hour long with great tour guides. If you are looking to bring young children it is not recommended because they won't understand it well and often get in the way of other people's experience but overall great place besides the adventure park which isn't very exciting.
This was my first time coming here in about 25 years. Everything good has stayed good and everything I remember being kinda shaky has been brought up to snuff. Staff is great and is definitely a place everyone would enjoy. Make sure to bring a camera and ask about adult tours! On the adult tours you will traverse into the dark abyss while wearing a tyvek suit and lighted hard hat. You'll feel like a true explorer.
Stopped in on Oct 18, 2017, just out of the blue, while on a day trip, to find they where closed on Wednesdays for their off season hours. However not to worry our story ends well, the more than kind folks at the desk found the time to fit us in for a outstanding tour 200 feet down below. Carl, our tour guide, was a smiling, intelligent, informative, good natured fellow, rare these days, who knew spelunking like the back of his hand. The professionally operated, well kept and neat business impressed us as did the vast network and size of the cave. Many thanks for taking the time taken and great care of us. Cyd and Don.
